Gilberto Aviles Figueroa is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor who earned his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School. As an active-duty service member, he brings a unique understanding of military culture, life transitions, workplace stress, and the challenges that service members and their families may experience.

As a bilingual therapist who speaks English and Spanish, I welcome clients who feel more comfortable expressing themselves in either language. I believe therapy is most meaningful when you can communicate openly and feel fully understood.

Therapy should feel safe, respectful, and free of judgment. My goal is to create a trusting space where you feel comfortable being yourself, sharing what you are experiencing, and exploring the concerns that brought you to counseling. I chose this profession because I genuinely care about helping people feel heard, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

My approach is person-centered and collaborative. Rather than assuming that one method works for everyone, I take the time to understand your needs, strengths, experiences, and goals. Together, we can identify practical coping strategies, strengthen resilience, and help you regain a greater sense of control over your emotional well-being.

I integrate EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and choice-based therapeutic approaches to help clients process painful or overwhelming experiences, better understand their emotions, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and work toward realistic and meaningful goals.

I have a particular interest and expertise in trauma treatment, and I understand that healing is not a one-size-fits-all process. We will work together to determine the pace and approach that feel right for you. You will be an active participant in your care, and I will support you in making informed choices throughout your therapeutic journey.

I am also passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health treatment and encouraging more open, compassionate conversations about emotional wellness. I remain committed to continued learning and professional development so that I can provide thoughtful, evidence-based, and effective care.

I would welcome the opportunity to learn more about your experiences, understand what you hope to gain from counseling, and support you on your path toward healing, personal growth, and improved well-being. Contact True Blue Behavioral Health to schedule a complimentary phone consultation.
