I believe that the counseling process should be a collaborative effort between people who come into the professional relationship with open minds and the desire to connect with one another on a human basis. As humans, we all experience adversity in a variety of ways both internally and externally, and sometimes these challenges can be difficult to cope with alone. As a behavioral health professional, I strive to provide the environment for each person to both strive for a better understanding of and learn to react more constructively to challenges in their lives.
I used Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills strategies to help clients towards achieving the goals we set to help them build mindfulness skills, build their distress tolerance, increase emotional regulation abilities, and enhance their interpersonal communication in all relationships. As humans, we all share many characteristics, and all struggle to deal with some the experiences that life brings. With this though, it is important to remember that you are not alone, that no one’s life is without difficulties, and that we all deserve the opportunity to feel listened to and to lead a fulfilling life.
